The official spokesperson for the Russian Foreign Ministry, Maria Zakharova, clarified today, Tuesday, that President Maia Sandu’s ‘terrorist attack against Russia’ regarding the alleged attempt by Russia to influence the parliamentary election results is an attempt to monopolize power despite her unpopularity.
Zakharova emphasized that the Moldovan people, unlike the official stance of Chisinau, do not perceive Russia as a threat, as it has always been and will remain a reliable friend to Moldova.
Zakharova stated in a comment published on the Russian Foreign Ministry’s website: ‘As independent experts note, the fear of a genuine defeat in the elections forces the Chisinau official to fully ‘remove the masks’ and show its true stance—contempt—towards the principles of freedom and democracy, under slogans of pro-Western forces coming to power.’
Zakharova pointed out that this is the real background behind the anti-Russian attacks by Moldovan officials.
