Iran’s Stance on Relations with Syria

The Iranian Foreign Ministry spokesperson added in a press conference: “We consider ourselves friends of the Syrian people and are not in a hurry to restore relations with Damascus.” Araqchi emphasized that “Iran’s dealings with Syria depend on the behavior of the opposite party there,” and that his country “has complete goodwill and seeks to achieve stability in Syria.” Abbas Araqchi stressed Iran’s rejection of any interference, indicating that “the Syrian people are the ultimate decision-makers as they are the true rulers of their country. Our role is limited to helping them make the right decisions so that we can see Syria enjoying peace and living peacefully with its neighbors.”
