This came in a statement received by the Iraqi News Agency (INA), in which the ministry affirmed that it “followed the statements made by the spokesman for the Iranian Foreign Ministry, Ismail Baghaei, regarding the elections in the Republic.” The ministry confirmed, according to the statement, that “Iraq maintains balanced relations with its neighbors, based on the principle of mutual respect for sovereignty and non-interference in the internal affairs of states,” stressing that “maintaining good neighborliness requires a precise commitment to these principles and avoiding any statements or positions that would undermine Iraq’s sovereignty or interfere in its internal affairs.”
Earlier on Monday, it was stated: “The current Iraqi elections are important, and any foreign interference is rejected and condemned by the people and the government in Iraq. American interventions are undoubtedly harmful, and precedents show that America’s intervention in any country has always been against the interest of that country and against the security of the entire region,” according to the Tasnim News Agency.
This voting includes categories of security and military forces in their various formations, in addition to displaced persons previously registered with the commission, who headed to their designated polling centers across the country’s provinces to cast their votes two days before the general voting date.
