The Iraqi Prime Minister’s Media Office announced in a statement, “Iraq has managed to raise its refining capacity to the level of 1.3 million barrels per day, placing it among the top Arab countries in this field. With this growth and enhancement in capabilities, it aims to achieve a refining capacity of 1.65 million barrels per day.” The statement added that this development “will achieve several benefits, most notably reducing the burden of importing oil derivatives to the lowest level in decades, saving billions in hard currency annually, strengthening the trade balance, enabling the export of surplus derivatives in the near future, creating new job opportunities in the energy sector and related sectors, improving fuel quality according to global standards, and reducing carbon emissions and pollution levels.

Earlier today, the Iraqi Ministry of Oil announced that the gas export terminal in the city of Basra received the largest semi-refrigerated liquefied gas tanker in its history. The ministry stated in a statement that “the second berth at the liquefied gas export terminal, belonging to the Basra Gas Company, received yesterday the largest gas tanker in its history, where the tanker ‘Gaschem’ docked at a length of 188 meters and a capacity of 20,000 tons of semi-refrigerated liquefied gas, which is scheduled to be exported to China, marking a significant achievement for Iraq and the company in the field of liquefied gas export.”
