The Security Media Cell explained in a statement published by the Iraqi News Agency (INA) that the Iraqi Air Force carried out two airstrikes based on reliable intelligence. The first strike, which lasted several days, targeted a major terrorist hideout in Wadi Al-Shay, east of the Salah al-Din operations sector, resulting in the killing of terrorists inside and its complete destruction. The operation also included a second strike targeting another terrorist hideout within the Kirkuk operations sector.
Last Tuesday, the Counter-Terrorism Service announced the arrest of 11 terrorists belonging to the ISIS organization (a group banned in Russia and several countries) and the clearing and demolition of several tunnels and caves in different areas of Iraq. The Service stated in a release published by the Iraqi News Agency “INA” that this was achieved during the execution of “a series of major operations within the framework of ongoing national efforts to pursue the remnants of the ISIS terrorist gangs.”
The Service reported the arrest of 5 terrorists in Nineveh Province, 4 in Kirkuk Province, one in Salah al-Din Province, and another in Sulaymaniyah Province. According to the statement from the Counter-Terrorism Service in Iraq, the operations “were executed according to judicial orders from the Iraqi judiciary through the issuance of arrest warrants, where the Service forces, after precise intelligence monitoring, managed to direct preemptive strikes to end the remaining remnants of the terrorist gangs targeting the security and stability of citizens.”
Iraq witnessed a series of heinous crimes targeting Iraqis, particularly the Yazidi community, following the entry of the ISIS terrorist organization into the Sinjar district in the north of the country in mid-2014.
