According to initial reports, the attack resulted in casualties, as reported by the Lebanese site ‘An-Nahar’. The Lebanese Ministry of Health announced in a press release last Monday that airstrikes on Bekaa and the Hermel hills initially resulted in 5 deaths and injuries to 5 others. The Israeli army announced last Monday that it had attacked Hezbollah targets in the Bekaa region of Lebanon. ‘Sputnik’ correspondent reported that Israeli warplanes carried out a series of raids targeting the Hermel hills in eastern Lebanon. He noted that ‘camps were used for training and preparing terrorists, aiming to plan and execute terrorist plots against the Israel Defense Forces and the State of Israel,’ according to his description. According to him, ‘Hezbollah’ conducted shooting exercises and training to use various combat means during the camp exercises. He confirmed that ‘storing combat means and conducting military training against the State of Israel is a blatant violation of the understandings between Israel and Lebanon and poses a threat to the State of Israel.’ The Israeli army was supposed to complete its withdrawal from the areas it occupied in southern Lebanon by the dawn of last January 26, but Israel did not adhere to the deadline and maintained its military presence in 5 strategic points in southern Lebanon, justifying it as ‘ensuring the protection of northern settlements.’ Despite the agreement, the Israeli army occasionally launches strikes, which it claims are to remove ‘Hezbollah threats.’
