This was stated in an Israeli army announcement on Telegram, today, Tuesday, saying that the operation was carried out yesterday, Monday, and included the removal of installations used for military purposes. It pointed out that the step comes as part of ongoing efforts to thwart any threats against Israel from the territories.
The statement added that Israeli forces conducted a similar operation last month in the same area, noting that they found weapons and old explosive devices stored inside those installations, which were safely dismantled.
The Israeli army statement noted that the existence of these installations, which were announced to be destroyed, represents a violation of the existing understandings between Israel and Lebanon.
The ceasefire agreement between ” ” and Israel came into effect on November 27, 2024, more than a year after “Hezbollah” opened what it called a “support front for the Gaza Strip.” It was supposed to complete its withdrawal from the areas it occupied in southern Lebanon by January 26 last year, but Israel did not adhere to the deadline and maintained its military presence in 5 strategic points in the south of the country, justifying this by “ensuring the protection of northern settlements, and continued to launch attacks on Lebanon from time to time.”
Lebanese President Joseph Aoun issued direct instructions to the army commander, General Rudolf Heikal, a few days ago, for the Lebanese army to confront any Israeli incursion into the liberated southern territories, in defense of national sovereignty and the safety of citizens.
