Tommy Fleetwood’s Rise in Dubai Golf Scene

Tommy Fleetwood is crafting a legacy both on and off the golf course. Now residing in Dubai, this English golfer has made the UAE his new home, where he trains and inspires upcoming golfers.

Fleetwood’s dedication is showing results. Following his PGA Tour triumph at the Tour Championship, he commenced the 2025 Abu Dhabi Championship at Yas Links with a strong performance, posting scores of 8-under 64 and 66 to share the 36-hole lead with fellow Englishman Aaron Rai.

Known for his flowing hair and signature composure, Fleetwood has quickly become the standout player of the season.

“A strong start was crucial today,” Fleetwood remarked. “I executed some excellent shots, managed a few challenging lies in the rough, and putted consistently. It feels great to finish 6-under. I’m eager for the rest of the week.” If he maintains his lead, this victory would mark his second consecutive tournament win, extending an impressive streak of three wins in his last five worldwide appearances.

Fleetwood’s choice to base himself in Dubai is more than just a lifestyle decision; it’s a strategic move. Situated at Jumeirah Golf Estates, the Tommy Fleetwood Academy allows him to train, coach, and stay at the top of his game. The academy offers programs for both juniors and adults, combining technical skills with Fleetwood’s philosophy of intelligent, confident play.

“Having the academy here feels right,” Fleetwood stated. “Dubai has provided me with fantastic opportunities, and now I can give back to aspiring golfers.”

However, Fleetwood isn’t the only attraction. Aaron Rai, hailing from Wolverhampton, England, and of Indian descent, matched Fleetwood’s performance, thrilling fans with an albatross on the par-5 second hole and a dazzling 64, marking the lowest round of the day.

“Hitting all 18 greens is always satisfying,” Rai commented. “This course lets you shape shots and engage in strategic play. It’s a joy to perform well here.”

Despite a leaderboard filled with talent, including Rory McIlroy sneaking into the top 20 and Marco Penge staying near the leaders, Fleetwood’s blend of style and form gives him a unique advantage.

As Fleetwood continues to amaze on the course and inspire off it, one thing is clear: Dubai is more than just a stop on the global tour. It’s Tommy Fleetwood’s home, his training base, and now a stage for his ongoing ascendancy in professional golf.
