The Israeli newspaper ‘The Jerusalem Post’ reported that Zamir’s comments came in response to the Doha attack, which involved Israel targeting leaders of the Islamic Resistance Movement ‘Hamas’ on Tuesday. The Israeli army stated in a release: ‘The IDF and Shin Bet, through the Air Force, accurately targeted the leadership of Hamas.’ The Qatari Foreign Ministry condemned the Israeli attack targeting ‘residential headquarters of several members of Hamas’s political bureau in Doha,’ stating: ‘This criminal act represents a blatant violation of all international laws and norms and poses a serious threat to the safety and security of Qataris and residents in Qatar.’

The Israeli attack resulted in the deaths of six people, including the son of Khalil al-Hayya, a Hamas leader, and was followed by severe backlash against Israel and international criticism. The UN Security Council is scheduled to hold an emergency meeting today, Wednesday, at the request of Algeria and other countries to discuss this attack.

It is noteworthy that Qatar, Egypt, and the United States continue to play a mediating role in the Gaza war, despite the stalemate in ceasefire negotiations for months.
