Jennifer Lopez on Life After Ben Affleck

Jennifer Lopez opened up about her divorce from Ben Affleck, revealing its profound impact on her life.

The acclaimed actor-singer described their split and the personal growth she experienced as “the best thing that ever happened to me,” as reported by People.

“It transformed me,” Lopez elaborated. “It helped me grow in ways I needed,” she shared with People.

Affleck is an executive producer on Lopez’s latest film, Kiss of the Spider Woman. The movie debuted at the Sundance Film Festival in January, coinciding with the finalization of their divorce.

Reflecting on the film and her life’s challenges, she remarked, “It was a really tough period. Every moment on set brought me joy, but back home, things were difficult. I often wondered, ‘How do I balance this?'”

Lopez and Affleck first met in 2002 and started dating. Their engagement ended in 2004, after which they each pursued other relationships and built families, according to People.

Lopez married Marc Anthony from 2004 to 2014, and they share twins Max and Emme. Affleck was married to Jennifer Garner from 2005 to 2018, and they have three children: Violet, Seraphina, and Samuel.

The couple reunited in 2021, marrying in a private Las Vegas ceremony in July 2022, and later celebrated with a Georgia ceremony attended by loved ones.

Eventually, they decided to part ways, with Lopez filing for divorce two years later, citing irreconcilable differences, People reported.

In August, a source noted that Lopez is thriving and focusing on her career, including promoting her passion project, Kiss of the Spider Woman.

“This film was shot last year in New York during a challenging time with Ben. She’s grown significantly since then and feels happy and grateful,” the insider revealed.

Kiss of the Spider Woman, featuring Diego Luna and Tonatiuh, adapts the 1993 Broadway classic, originally inspired by Manuel Puig’s 1976 novel.
