The spokesperson for the National Investment Authority in Iraq, Hanan Jassim, stated that governmental and legislative reforms over the past two years have helped attract Arab and foreign investments exceeding 100 billion dollars. These investments have contributed to enhancing sustainable development and diversifying income sources.
She explained that these investments were distributed across sectors such as industry, infrastructure, housing, energy, education, and health. They have contributed to creating new job opportunities and increasing the gross domestic product, representing a significant step in reducing reliance on oil, according to the Iraqi News Agency (INA).
Hanan Jassim added that recent years have witnessed progress due to the activation of the one-stop shop, joining international agreements, and encouraging investment. Additionally, a map with more than 100 strategic opportunities in various sectors was prepared, which has boosted investor confidence and made Iraq one of the promising destinations in the region.
She confirmed that the authority is working to align legislation with the directives of the Iraqi Prime Minister, Mohammed Shia Al-Sudani, by simplifying procedures, reducing bureaucracy, and expanding public-private partnerships. Furthermore, providing legal incentives and guarantees enhances Iraq’s attractiveness as a stable investment environment and supports comprehensive development goals.
