Today, Wednesday, ‘Irna’ reported that Araghchi stated Iran will do whatever is necessary to protect its security, interests, and people. He explained that ‘it is likely we will send a team to Vienna to negotiate with the International Atomic Energy Agency.’ The Iranian Foreign Minister continued, saying, ‘Mr. Aparo’s visit was useful in bringing perspectives closer, and afterward, we presented our vision on formulating a possible mechanism based on parliamentary law.’ He indicated that the agency sent its response, and mutual interaction continues. Iran may complete a new round of negotiations in Vienna, noting that the negotiations were designed inside the Ministry of Foreign Affairs before the Israeli war on his country.

He emphasized that ‘in negotiations, you cannot take any position outside the outlined goal. This is not a precaution but a duty; decisions are made at a higher level than the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, and our role is to implement them.’ He noted that Iran cannot completely cut off cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency, and the return of inspectors is possible according to parliamentary law, especially with the approach of the scheduled fuel replacement at the Bushehr plant next month, which necessitates their presence.

The Iranian parliament voted by majority on a law obligating the government to suspend cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency, and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian issued a decision to implement it officially one day after the ceasefire announcement. Iran decided to suspend cooperation with the International Atomic Energy Agency until the safety of scientists is secured, according to standards and a timetable set by the Iranian Supreme National Security Council, after Iran’s nuclear facilities were bombed by American and Israeli forces during a 12-day war last June.

In July, Iranian Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said the non-proliferation of nuclear weapons is important, but he clarified that cooperation with the International Agency will be managed through the Iranian Supreme National Security Council for reasons related to safety and security.
