The Cabinet stated in its announcement that “an agreement has been approved between the (Jordanian) government and the Government of Russia regarding the mutual cancellation of visa requirements for citizens of both countries.” The Jordanian news agency “Petra” reported that this decision comes within the framework of enhancing bilateral cooperation relations between the two countries and opening new horizons to serve their mutual interests.
Tourists will not need to obtain a visa to travel for a period not exceeding 30 days. The agreement was also signed by Russian Prime Minister Mikhail Mishustin, according to the Russian “Interfax” website.
In June, Russian Minister of Economic Development Maxim Reshetnikov mentioned that the ministry signed an agreement last April regarding the mutual cancellation of visa requirements with the Sultanate of Oman. He clarified that similar agreements will be signed with Jordan, Myanmar, and several other countries in the Middle East and Asia.
He noted that in the near future, the stay period for electronic visa holders is set to be extended from 16 days to 30 days, explaining that there are 64 countries on the list of countries eligible to obtain an electronic visa to visit Russia.
