According to Jordanian media, the project established in the Al-Muwaqqar Industrial City is considered a culmination of the kingdom’s efforts to encourage reliance on clean energy sources to reduce industrial costs and support the competitiveness of local products. Al-Kharabsheh confirmed that the ministry is committed to encouraging such projects to reduce energy costs for national industries and enhance the competitiveness of Jordanian products in global markets, in addition to creating new job opportunities in the technology sector, a field in which the kingdom has begun to take a leading Arab position.
The Minister of Energy and Mineral Resources pointed out the support provided to these projects by the ministry through exemptions from customs and tax fees, which reduces implementation costs and encourages more factories to adopt them as a safe and sustainable alternative to traditional fuel. The Al-Muwaqqar Industrial Station comes within a broader context, as six months ago, the Jordanian Ministry of Energy signed 12 agreements to install solar cell and heater systems, benefiting thousands of families and reducing the burden of electricity bills.
Studies indicate that solar thermal energy systems achieve an annual return on investment ranging from 20% to 33% depending on conventional fuel prices, while concentrated solar power systems stand out for their high efficiency, requiring half the space compared to photovoltaic systems to produce the same power.
