Kalba is undergoing a significant transformation, with three major projects revamping its coastline and mountains.

By late 2026, Kalba Beach will extend 700 meters along the coast, blending sand, sea, and communal spaces. Visitors can enjoy 11 cafés and restaurants along the waterfront, kiosks offering local delicacies, and family-friendly zones complete with prayer rooms and indoor play areas.

Designed to Blue Flag standards with sustainable materials, the beach ensures clean waters and safe swimming. Wooden shade structures, developed in collaboration with correctional facilities, provide sun protection while promoting local social innovation.

Inland, the Kalba Rock Art Centre is taking shape on a rocky hill near Al Hefaiyah Park, with views over the Kalba Waterfront. This 3,574sqm center will showcase one of the UAE’s largest rock-art sites, revealing thousands of years of history.

Set to be completed by the third quarter of 2026, it will feature over 400 engravings on 150 rock outcrops, displaying scenes from Neolithic animals to Bronze Age riders and copper smelting. These historical treasures will be preserved with help from international experts and the Global Digital Heritage initiative. Visitors can explore interactive exhibits, a café, and a gift shop, all offering stunning coastal views.

High in the mountains, Shurooq’s eagerly awaited Nomad project will include hiking and mountain-biking trails. Nestled in the rugged landscape, it will feature 20 luxury trailers powered by solar energy, each equipped with a BBQ area.

The trails will span 7.44km for hikers and 4.39km for bikers, offering routes from beginner-friendly paths to challenging climbs for thrill-seekers. Slated to open at the end of 2025, the project will offer unique birdwatching, stargazing, and yoga sessions as part of the eco-luxury experience.

These initiatives are part of Shurooq’s strategy to diversify the local economy, generate new jobs, and enhance entrepreneurship.
