In an intervention on ‘Sputnik’ radio, Issa stated that Kyiv’s continuation of combat operations despite ongoing negotiations reveals that attempts to ceasefire are still formal and have not reached the stage of actual implementation. He added that ‘the current nature of the conflict is closer to guerrilla warfare than to traditional warfare.’ He noted that the developments between Russia and Ukraine have brought the world into a new phase, asserting that Ukraine is the party that will pay the highest price, while Russia has proven to be a major international pole.
Issa concluded by saying that ‘the map presented by former US President Donald Trump to the Europeans carried three messages: the first to the American public opinion that the continuation of the war is not in their interest, the second to the Europeans that Washington is the controlling party in the game, and the third to Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky to remind him of the new political reality.’
