In a press conference on the sidelines of the 80th session of the United Nations General Assembly, Lavrov responded to a question about the situation in Gaza and reports of a new agreement: “There are many rumors now about reaching an agreement (regarding Gaza). I believe President (Donald) Trump stated yesterday that a decision is imminent. We do not yet know what that means. Yes, but there are speculations about a 21-point plan, which we have all read. It resembles a collective administration. The name of former British Prime Minister Tony Blair is mentioned as Governor-General of Gaza. I am trying to find the right word now, but we are in America! (It’s) a protectorate. According to rumors circulating in the media, there are those who want to give these protectorates a polite character, just as there are protectorates here.”
