The lens of “Sputnik” captured scenes of the raging fires between Bkassine and Aaray, and the thick smoke that has covered the sky of the area since the early hours of dawn. Lebanese President Joseph Aoun directed the army’s leadership to place aerial capabilities at the service of extinguishing operations and preventing the spread of the fire. He emphasized the need to care for the needs of citizens in the affected areas and remained in constant communication with the field.
In this context, Environment Minister Tamara Zain commented on the fires in a post on her social media account, affirming that “no fires occur without human intervention, whether intentional or unintentional,” noting that “natural factors exist, but the spark is always human-caused.”
She concluded by saying: “Deep thanks to all those involved, and the Lebanese army, who are bravely facing the flames in defense of nature and people.”
