Lewandowski’s Injury: Advantage for Barcelona?

According to Spanish media, the injury of Lewandowski, the Spanish Barcelona team’s striker, might be an advantage for the Catalan giant rather than a disadvantage. FIFA has a program to protect clubs by compensating them for the period players miss due to injury during the international break. This compensation starts from the 29th day of the injury. In Lewandowski’s case, November 8th will be the start date for compensation calculation.

Lewandowski is expected to be absent from Barcelona for a period ranging from one and a half months to two weeks. The daily compensation for his absence to Barcelona will be 20,548 euros. By deducting the first 28 days of the injury, only the last two days of the month plus the following two weeks will remain if the absence period extends.

On a technical level, Barcelona will lose Lewandowski in crucial upcoming matches, most notably against Real Madrid in El Clasico on October 26th.
