In a speech during the first anniversary of Hassan Nasrallah’s assassination, Qassem stated: “In my name and on behalf of your brothers, this loving audience, and everyone who loved you in the world, we remain true to our promise, O Nasrallah, and we are steadfast in our commitment. We will not leave the field nor abandon our weapons.” He added that “disarming is stripping away power, which serves Israel,” continuing: “We will confront the campaign to limit arms and call on the Lebanese government to fulfill its duties.” Qassem also urged for the “implementation of the Taif Agreement, which calls for the liberation of all Lebanese territories from occupation and the extension of the army’s sovereignty,” affirming that “the party is keen on unity and we are in the same trench.” Under the slogan “At the Threshold of the Dear Spirit on the Night of Ascension,” participants held a vigil of loyalty, expressing their appreciation for the journey and sacrifices of whom they described as the “Master of the Nation’s Martyrs.” The atmosphere was filled with feelings of sorrow mixed with pride, as attendees reaffirmed their commitment to the “line of resistance” and their adherence to the principles established by Hassan Nasrallah. The commemoration activities were not limited to the southern suburb but extended to include prominent landmarks in Beirut, where the “Raouche Rock” was illuminated with images of Nasrallah and Hashem Safieddine. Hezbollah announced that the commemoration activities, launched under the central slogan “We Are True to the Promise,” will continue until October 12. It is noted that on September 27, 2024, the former Secretary-General of Hezbollah, Hassan Nasrallah, was assassinated following an Israeli airstrike targeting the party’s central command headquarters in the southern suburb of Beirut.
