Li Qiang explained during his meeting in Beijing with the heads of international economic organizations that last year witnessed “complex and profound international changes,” resulting from the rise of unilateral and protectionist policies, the exacerbation of geopolitical disturbances, and the weakening effectiveness of the global economic governance system.

He pointed out that in 2025, there were sharp fluctuations and a noticeable decline amid multiple negative factors, while new trends emerged highlighting the urgent need to reform the global economic governance system and improve the structure of the international economic system.

Li Qiang added that the annual meeting of the Chinese Premier with leaders of ten global economic organizations was held at the Diaoyutai State Guesthouse in Beijing, with the participation of the heads of the BRICS New Development Bank, the World Bank, the International Monetary Fund, the World Trade Organization, the United Nations Conference on Trade and Development, the International Labour Organization, the Bank for International Settlements, the Financial Stability Board, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank, and the Organization for Economic Cooperation and Development.
