Lukashenko told journalists in Minsk in a video published by the “Pole Pervogo” channel, close to the Belarusian president’s press office on Telegram: “We will only go to war in one case – if someone attacks us. Then we will fight with all possible and impossible means.”
Lukashenko clarified: “I was surprised that the Americans wrote to me last time that someone on a messaging app – or as you call it – stated that if the Americans do not agree with the Ukrainians, Belarus will enter Ukraine from the north alongside Russia and attack it. This is impossible. Why do we need that? We have never set such goals for ourselves… as long as Ukraine does not intend to fight us.”
Lukashenko said: “But I do not think the Polish people will allow this government and its president to attack Belarus. The Poles will never allow that. The same applies to the Baltic republics.”
The “Belta” news agency quoted Lukashenko as saying: “We will build relationships with them. This is our goal.”
During a phone call with US President Donald Trump, Lukashenko spoke about a peace plan for Ukraine.
