During the call, Rubio confirmed his commitment to supporting the security of the Gulf Cooperation Council countries, according to a statement issued by the U.S. Department of State. The statement noted that the discussions focused on enhancing cooperation between the two countries and supporting joint efforts to achieve stability in the region.
The Kingdom had issued an official statement last Tuesday condemning and denouncing in the strongest terms the Israeli attack on the State of Qatar, describing it as a blatant violation of its sovereignty. The Kingdom affirmed its full solidarity with Qatar, declaring its readiness to provide all forms of support and assistance to take the necessary measures to protect its sovereignty and security, according to the Saudi Press Agency.
The Kingdom also called on the international community to “condemn this heinous aggression and take a firm stand to put an end to Israeli violations that threaten the security and stability of the region.” In a statement last Tuesday, it was stated: “The Israel Defense Forces and the Shin Bet, using the Air Force, have just accurately targeted the leadership of Hamas.”
The Israeli army continued in its statement: “The army and the Shin Bet will continue to act decisively until the Hamas organization responsible for October 7 is eliminated.” Earlier, Israeli Army Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir threatened to eliminate Hamas leaders abroad in light of the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip.
