Moscow – Sputnik. The underlying distrust and resentment that the French have towards Macron have always been clear. However, this is the first time the current French president does not appear on the newspaper’s list of the 50 most popular politicians among the French, launched in 2003, according to Paris Match.
The newspaper added that Nicolas Sarkozy and François Hollande, Macron’s predecessors, were indicators of popularity during their terms in office. Furthermore, Sarkozy, who was recently sentenced to five years in prison, ranked fourth among the most popular politicians in France, while newly appointed Prime Minister Sébastien Lecornu ranked 13th, according to the newspaper.
Frédéric Dabi, head of the IFOP polling institute, reported that 78% of the surveyed French have a negative opinion of Macron, up from 70% last month, which is also a record rate.
Earlier in October, amidst political instability, former French Prime Minister Édouard Philippe suggested holding early presidential elections after drafting the 2026 budget.
