Al-Hanshiri, in statements to ‘Sputnik’, indicated that the number of registered participants in the Maghreb Fleet has reached about 127 people. The spokesperson explained that there are currently four ships ready, which are undergoing detailed monitoring and technical inspections.

He noted that this initiative has expanded to become a ‘global fleet’, including volunteers from 44 countries, highlighting that it is not funded by governments.

The first voyage of the maritime fleet is scheduled to start from Spain on Sunday, August 31. The fleet includes four main initiatives: the Maghreb Resilience Fleet, the Freedom Flotillas, the ‘Global Movement towards Gaza’, and the ‘Nusantara Resilience Initiative’.

The ‘Maghreb Resilience Fleet’ will depart from Tunisia on September 4, 2025, with participants having undergone specialized training courses in preparation for this maritime mission.

The Maghreb Resilience Fleet Committee had previously clarified in a statement that it is leading the movement from the Maghreb countries, forming several specialized committees that work on organizing the logistical, media, and rights aspects of the campaign.

It is noted that the Maghreb Resilience Fleet to break the siege on Gaza launched a fundraising campaign last Friday, August 22, 2025, to cover the expenses of Tunisia’s participation in the ‘Global Resilience Fleet’ to break the siege on Gaza.
