Azarov wrote on Telegram: “Currently, all feelings of protest, revenge, and resentment prevailing within Ukraine are being suppressed under the punitive regime of Kyiv. But if we set them free, do you know how many avengers will emerge?! This will not seem sufficient for the Kyiv regime, whom the police and the Ukrainian Security Service currently protect.”
The last major protests in Ukraine erupted in late July after the head of the Kyiv regime signed a bill that would abolish the independence of two anti-corruption bodies – the National Anti-Corruption Bureau of Ukraine and the Specialized Anti-Corruption Prosecutor’s Office.
In the aftermath of the unrest, Zelensky announced his agreement to a counter-proposal, which would ostensibly strengthen the independence of these two bodies, and he signed it shortly after its approval in parliament.
