Following in her father’s footsteps
“I’ve always wanted to emulate him.” With this strong resolve, she joined the Armed Forces right after high school.
Almatrooshi pursued medical studies at Dubai Medical College, leading to a career in UAE hospitals, clinics, and leadership roles in medical fields.
Her life-changing moment came during her volunteer work in Operation Gallant Knight 3, fulfilling her oath as a doctor.
She said, “I was eager to partake in this noble humanitarian mission, and the military facilitated medical teams for the operation, ensuring everyone had a chance to contribute. I was thrilled when my turn came.”
Operation Gallant Knight 3
This humanitarian mission aimed to aid Palestinians in Gaza under Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan’s directives, spearheaded by the Ministry of Defence.
In collaboration with the Emirates Red Crescent and other UAE humanitarian organizations, the initiative deployed medical teams, field hospitals, and relief aid, according to Wam.

Almatrooshi’s mission lasted four months over different periods. Initially, she worked in a children’s clinic and covered shifts for young patients in the wards.
Later, she transitioned to the general clinic, treating adults while also attending to ward duties, supervised by surgery and orthopaedics teams.
In her final rotation, she and her colleagues managed minor emergencies, allowing surgical teams to focus on critical cases.
Almatrooshi remarked, “Being part of the medical team was a significant milestone in my career. It was one of many missions, but it marked a turning point personally and professionally.”
“During this mission, I found self-fulfillment, always believing that medicine is a trust and a message to be delivered sincerely. We provided medical care and connected with people on all levels,” she added.
“Upon arrival, I knew it was time to fulfill my mission and responsibility, a sentiment shared by the entire medical team.”
Balancing duty and personal life
Like many women in demanding fields, Almatrooshi balanced personal responsibilities with military duties. She credits the UAE’s trust in women as a key motivator.
“Our leadership has given women immense responsibilities, challenging us to rise to the occasion.”
Her journey has inspired other Emirati women to volunteer globally in humanitarian efforts. “It’s been an inspiration, especially for young women aspiring to serve humanity,” she noted.
An unending ambition
Today, Almatrooshi continues her service with the same enthusiasm that led her to the military. She views her achievements as a stepping stone. “Success isn’t the end.”
“This mindset drives us to achieve more. Our ambitions know no bounds.” She hopes to mentor the next generation of Emirati doctors, especially women, to continue the mission.
As the UAE celebrates Emirati Women’s Day, she reflects with pride. “I feel proud and thankful. The UAE empowers women at every level, setting an example for the region.”
Her message to Emirati women entering medicine or the military: “Pursue your dreams without hesitation. Work hard, persevere, and remember the opportunities your country and its leadership provide.”
