A Western newspaper reported this Monday morning that statements made by the Egyptian national team captain, Mohamed Salah, have caused widespread anger within the management of the “Reds,” who insist on the necessity of the player issuing a public apology. This development comes at a time when Salah’s participation in the anticipated UEFA Champions League match against Inter Milan in Italy, scheduled for tomorrow Tuesday at the “San Siro” stadium, has not yet been decided.

Despite this, Mohamed Salah was seen at the club’s training headquarters at the “AXA” complex, preparing for his training session before traveling to Italy. However, his position regarding the match remains unclear. It has not yet been determined if the Liverpool winger will participate in the Brighton match, which he hinted might be his last wearing the “Reds” jersey.

In fiery comments after the match, the 33-year-old Egyptian player attacked the club and its coach, Arne Slot, and hinted that he might not continue at Anfield for long. Salah told journalists in the mixed zone after the match: “I am very frustrated, honestly. I have given a lot to this club, and everyone has seen that over the years, especially last season.” He added angrily: “I don’t know, it seems like I’m a scapegoat. I think it’s very clear that someone wants to blame everything on me. The club promised me a lot in the summer, but nothing so far.”

Salah, who extended his contract last April for two years, has become an icon at Liverpool during his 8 years at “Anfield,” winning the Premier League twice and scoring 250 goals in all competitions with the club. Despite this, Slot has excluded him from the starting lineup in the last three matches and he has played only 45 minutes. Since joining Liverpool from in 2017, Salah has become the third top scorer in the club’s history behind Ian Rush and Roger Hunt, but it seems he feels his era at “Anfield” might be nearing its end.

Salah said: “I don’t think I’m the problem. I’ve done a lot for this club, gaining the respect I aspire to, and I don’t have to fight daily for my position because I have deserved it rightfully.”
