Washington – Sputnik. NASA stated in a release, “Using NASA’s James Webb Space Telescope, a team led by the Southwest Research Institute has identified a previously unknown moon orbiting Uranus, increasing the planet’s known number of moons to 29. The moon is estimated to be about 10 kilometers (6 miles) in diameter, with its small size having prevented NASA’s Voyager 2 spacecraft from detecting it in 1986. The distance between S/2025 U1 and Uranus is approximately 56 kilometers. The moon will later be given another name, as all of Uranus’s moons are named after characters from the works of William Shakespeare and Alexander Pope.”
