Netanyahu’s Final Deadline for Hamas Hostage Release

Israeli media reported that Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu will give the Palestinian Hamas movement a final deadline to return hostages in coordination with the United States, following claims by the US President’s envoy, Steve Weitkoff, that “Hamas” has shown readiness to disarm. The channel revealed advanced communications between Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu and US President Donald Trump regarding a proposal that grants “Hamas” a deadline to release all prisoners, affirming that the aim of the proposal is to reach a comprehensive agreement to manage the sector and improve security and humanitarian conditions.

The Israeli Broadcasting Authority reported from military officials that there is significant pessimism in the security system about the chances of reaching a deal. Steve Weitkoff had informed the families of the hostages that he is working with the Israeli government on a plan that would effectively end the war in Gaza. Weitkoff confirmed that “Hamas” is ready to disarm to end the war, although the movement has repeatedly stated it will not lay down its arms.

Hamas responded decisively to reports published by some media outlets, quoting US envoy Weitkoff, that the movement has expressed willingness to disarm. This comes amid escalating international pressures and political initiatives led by Washington through its envoy Weitkoff, with declared support from US President Donald Trump, who is promoting a plan for the reconstruction of Gaza in exchange for ending “Hamas’ military capability.” Israel considers the disarmament of “Hamas” a fundamental condition for any ceasefire agreement, but the movement has repeatedly stated it is not ready to disarm.

Last month, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu described any future independent Palestinian state as a platform for the destruction of Israel, stating that security control over Palestinian territories must remain in Israel’s hands for this reason.
