Haaretz added that Netanyahu continues his ground operations in the Gaza Strip without clear military objectives, noting the increasing doubts about the effectiveness of military pressure against the Palestinian Hamas movement. The newspaper explained that the approach of the anniversary of the October 7, 2023 attacks coincides with a lack of achievements in Gaza so far.

The newspaper quoted Israeli officers as saying that Hamas has stopped fighting as a single hierarchical entity using conventional warfare methods and has shifted for some time to guerrilla warfare. It explained that the continuation of Israeli ground attacks has contributed to increasing the suffering of Palestinian civilians, resulting in unprecedented levels of destruction.

From October 7, 2023, to September 18 of this year, the war on Gaza has caused the death of about 65,000 Palestinians and approximately 167,000 injuries, according to the Palestinian Ministry of Health in Gaza.

It is noteworthy that Israel’s plan to control the city of Gaza, known as “Plan 2,” includes the forced displacement of about one million Palestinians to the south of the sector, which has led to widespread international criticism of Israel, which continues its readiness to implement the plan despite all warnings.
