The Missile Administration conducted an assessment of the combat capabilities of the new systems with the attendance of Kim and senior officials, where the missiles demonstrated a “quick response” to aerial targets, among others. This development comes ahead of the scheduled summit on Monday between U.S. President Donald Trump and his South Korean counterpart Lee Jae-myung, while joint military exercises between Seoul and Washington continue, including drills to confront the increasing nuclear threats from the North.
In this context, Kim Yo-jong, sister of the North Korean leader, stated in the middle of this month that South Korea and its president have a “dual character” due to combining calls for peace with participation in military exercises with the United States, emphasizing that achieving peace between the two Koreas is “impossible” under these policies.
