The platform ‘Energy’ reported that major development companies and their partners in national oil companies intend to drill numerous oil and gas wells in offshore basins worldwide in the coming months. Several Arab and African countries have emerged on the list of the most important offshore oil and gas exploration activities, led by Angola and Namibia in West Africa for deepwater exploration, with a unique project anticipated in Libya, in addition to drilling developments in Kuwait. Drilling is set to begin by the end of the year 2025 or early 2026, marking the first long-awaited border carbonate test in Libyan waters, during the Cretaceous period. The Libyan government plans to grant more licenses following the round organized earlier this year, where the Turkish state-owned oil and gas company ‘TPAO’ and the Libyan National Oil Corporation agreed to cooperate on offshore exploration licenses. The drilling ship ‘Valaris 7’ is scheduled to begin drilling the exploration well ‘Kianda 1’ in the current quarter of 2025, off the coast of Angola, for the benefit of ‘Azul Energy’ and the companies ‘Equinor’ and ‘Sonangol’ in water depths exceeding 2500 meters. This well will test the potential expansion of a proven exploration area in the outer belt of the Congo Basin.
