The head of the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate stated to ‘Sputnik’ that this is part of the genocide war committed against the Palestinian people. It is a systematic targeting, officially decided by the Israeli occupation government, to target journalists and prevent them from conveying the truth about their crimes, genocide, and the starvation war faced by the Palestinian people in Gaza.
He continued: ‘The Journalists Syndicate strongly condemns this heinous crime and calls upon the international community to take deterrent steps against the occupation and impose sanctions on Israel according to international law, considering that this state commits the most heinous crimes against Palestinian journalists.’ He affirmed that ‘Israel’s assassination of journalists in Palestine, particularly in the Gaza Strip, is the largest and most heinous massacre in the history of media worldwide.’
Nasser Abu Bakr revealed the measures taken by the Journalists Syndicate and the International Federation of Journalists against the Israeli occupation, adding: ‘We affirm that we are continuing to take legal and judicial actions against Israel in the criminal court and in all international forums. We have sent more than 60 identical messages today, since the early hours of the morning after the assassination of the martyrs, to all international and human rights organizations, urging them to take practical steps against the occupation.’
The head of the Palestinian Journalists Syndicate urged all media institutions to boycott the media incitement campaign led by the Israeli occupation state, a campaign of lies and deception, and not to engage with it, as it is part of the war machine, killing, hatred, and incitement to murder practiced by the occupation army. He emphasized that ‘Israeli media is part of the war machine and a partner in the murder crimes faced by the Palestinian people.’
The Qatari network ‘Al Jazeera’ reported on Sunday evening the killing of its correspondents in the Gaza Strip, Anas Al-Sharif and Mohammed Quraiqa, in an Israeli strike on the journalists’ tent in the sector. The network stated: ‘Al Jazeera correspondents Anas Al-Sharif and Mohammed Quraiqa were martyred due to an Israeli strike on their tent.’
Simultaneously, Palestinian sources announced the killing of journalist Mohammed Al-Khalidi and photographer Moamen Alaywa in the same Israeli strike that targeted the Al Jazeera team in the tent adjacent to Al-Shifa Hospital in Gaza. In a related context, the Israeli army announced on Sunday evening the targeting of Al Jazeera correspondent Anas Al-Sharif, accusing him of ‘leading a cell’ affiliated with the Palestinian Hamas movement.
