Pirelli’s Cyber Tyre has received the prestigious ‘Vehicle-to-Everything (V2X) Innovation of the Year’ award at the AutoTech Breakthrough Awards 2025. This international accolade from the Tech Breakthrough intelligence platform honors the most groundbreaking innovations and players in the automotive industry.
The Cyber Tyre is the world’s first intelligent tyre system, capable of gathering data directly from the tyre, processing it with Pirelli’s unique software and algorithms, and communicating it in real-time to the vehicle’s electronic systems. This innovation enhances driving dynamics, safety, and integration with digital infrastructures.
AutoTech Breakthrough emphasized the technology’s crucial role in advancing connected and autonomous mobility, stating: “Cyber Tyre is a cornerstone for the future of smart mobility, including autonomous driving, connected vehicles, and infrastructure digitalization. By embedding intelligence in the tyre, Pirelli Cyber Tyre enhances transportation systems’ safety, sustainability, and data-driven efficiency.”
Piero Misani, Pirelli’s CTO, remarked: “This award underscores the significance of Cyber Tyre in transforming mobility. In Software-Defined Vehicles (SDVs), having precise real-time data is vital. Our technology uniquely provides detailed information to the vehicle’s electronics about the tyre’s status and road conditions, boosting safety, performance, and efficiency. The system is already featured in high-end vehicles, with plans to broaden its use across more vehicle types and functions via V2X connectivity.”
Beyond in-car features, Pirelli Cyber Tyre facilitates V2V (Vehicle-to-Vehicle) and V2I (Vehicle-to-Infrastructure) communication, aiding in the creation of smart roads and cities. The collected data assists in urban mobility planning, infrastructure maintenance, and optimizing public transport and fleet management.
The V2X (Vehicle-to-Everything) capabilities provide real-time alerts to vehicles and drivers about road conditions, interact with traffic signals, and critically support autonomous driving technology development.
Cyber Tyre technology is already available commercially and implemented in several premium vehicle models. Recently, Aston Martin and Pirelli agreed to integrate this system into the future vehicles of the luxury British brand.
Pirelli’s innovation marks a significant leap forward in developing smart, connected, and data-centric mobility, reinforcing their leadership in tyre innovation and dedication to safer, sustainable transportation solutions.
