The Syrian news agency (SANA), reported on Wednesday evening that Al-Shara’s statements came on the sidelines of the inauguration of the 62nd Damascus International Fair at the exhibition city in the Damascus countryside.
Al-Shara explained that “the important location of Damascus has given it a distinction in the services it provides and the care it offers, making it a safe environment for the safety of trade caravans, thus becoming a thriving vital area on the trade caravan route between East and West.”
He pointed out that “Damascus was a strategic center for trade exchange and industrial investment for several countries, and its industrial products reached all corners of the earth, especially those industries that carry the culture and civilization of the land.”
He noted that “Syria, under the authority of the previous regime, went through a period alien to its history, during which spirits changed and ambitions dwindled. Due to policies of oppression, tyranny, and corruption, the country became unattractive for investment, capital, and creatives, leading people to abandon and migrate from Syria, reducing its production, isolating it from the world, and losing its most important features.”
He indicated that with the fall of the previous regime, Syria returned, making the new Syria prioritize security stability and economic development, planning for the return of displaced persons and refugees, and gradually improving services. It is worth noting that the Damascus International Fair is one of the oldest trade fairs, founded in 1954, and is considered a major economic and cultural platform that brings together national and international industries.
