The discussions focused on strengthening bilateral partnerships, with Sharif inviting US investment in critical Pakistani sectors. He also extended an invitation to Trump for an official visit to Pakistan.

Pakistan has endorsed Trump for the Nobel Peace Prize, even as Islamabad criticizes the actions of US ally Israel in Gaza, Qatar, and Iran.

“We are addressing various issues in counter-terrorism, economic, and trade relations,” a senior US State Department official explained during a briefing on Tuesday. “The president is committed to advancing US interests in the region by engaging with Pakistan and its leaders,” the official added.
