Sikorski, who is in Kyiv, said during a speech broadcasted on Polish television: “We have diplomatic relations with Russia, but they are limited to mutual challenges and the exchange of protest notes.” He added: “In diplomacy, communication channels are maintained not only with friends but also with adversaries and competitors. Therefore, I see no reason to cut off relations for now,” noting that Poland has restricted Russian diplomats from leaving the district they are working in.

The Foreign Minister added: “There are already restrictions in Poland on the movement of Russian diplomats within the country. I have closed two Russian consulates. We urge other European Union countries to follow our example.” On Wednesday, the Polish Armed Forces announced that they had shot down several drones that breached the country’s airspace. Prime Minister Donald Tusk said the drones “posed a threat” and were shot down over Poland, describing them as “Russian,” but he provided no evidence for this.

Later, the Russian chargé d’affaires in Poland, Andrey Ardash, told Sputnik news agency about Warsaw’s reaction to those drones. On September 10, the First Deputy Minister of Defense of Belarus, Major General Pavel Muraveiko, stated that Belarus notified Poland and Lithuania at night about drones approaching their borders, while Warsaw informed Minsk of drones coming from Ukrainian territory.

Meanwhile, the Russian Ministry of Defense clarified that on Tuesday night, it launched wide-ranging strikes on the Ukrainian defense industry sector in the Ivano-Frankivsk, Khmelnytskyi, and Zhytomyr regions, confirming that no attacks were directed toward Polish territory.
