A source told Sputnik in response to a question about the possibility of holding a summit on the Ukrainian settlement in Turkey: “This will depend on how the peace process progresses and, naturally, on the parties’ agreement to participate in such a summit.” The Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan earlier stated that he, along with American Donald Trump and Volodymyr Zelensky, would be in Turkey. The meeting between Trump and Zelensky is scheduled to take place in Washington today, Monday, with the presence of US Vice President JD Vance, who has previously had a public disagreement with Zelensky.
Several European leaders have also announced their participation in the meeting, including German Chancellor Friedrich Merz, British Prime Minister Keir Starmer, French President Emmanuel Macron, Italian Prime Minister Giorgia Meloni, Finnish President Alexander Stubb, European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen, and NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte.
Meanwhile, the newspaper “Bild” reported that Trump will first meet privately with Zelensky before meeting with the European leaders.
