Two well-known retail chains in the UAE, Pottery Barn and West Elm, are closing their Dubai and Abu Dhabi branches, sending ‘farewell’ messages to customers.
A call center executive confirmed to Khaleej Times that the Dubai Hills Mall location will close on December 8, while the Yas Mall and Al Maryah Island stores in Abu Dhabi will cease operations on December 25.
Earlier this year, brands under Williams-Sonoma, Inc, including West Elm, Pottery Barn, and Pottery Barn Kids, began scaling back their presence in the region, shutting down the Dubai Mall branch in July and ending operations in Bahrain in March.

West Elm expressed its gratitude to customers with a farewell message: “With a heavy heart, we announce the closing of our West Elm store at Dubai Hills Mall. From modern furniture to inspiring designs that transformed your homes, it’s been an incredible journey. Thank you for making us part of your lives.”
Pottery Barn conveyed similar messages. To bid ‘goodbye’, the stores are offering discounts of up to 80% on everything at the closing locations in December; the Dubai Mall closure was also marked by last-minute sales.
The brands have announced their closures but have not disclosed specific reasons. Khaleej Times has reached out for further comments.
In the Middle East, the retail outlets are managed by Alshaya Group, which also oversees various global brands in the region.
