Participants will discuss steps to preserve rare bird species and develop eco-tourism, according to media reports. A ‘Sputnik’ correspondent learned about some bird species exhibited at the ‘Far East Street’ exhibition in the ‘Falcon House’ pavilion, including the gyrfalcon. Biodiversity conservation is a priority for Russia, and for the third consecutive year, on behalf of the Russian government, ‘Falcon Day’ is held on the sidelines of the Eastern Economic Forum. On September 3, 2025, the opening ceremony of the second international ‘Falcon Day’ forum took place in Vladivostok (Russky Island, Far Eastern Federal University campus) on the opening day of the tenth Eastern Economic Forum.

The international ‘Falcon Day’ forum is a major expert platform for comprehensive dialogue and exchange of experiences among representatives of relevant departments in Russia and foreign countries, international experts, and scientists specializing in the protection of raptors and rare species that require special conservation measures. Visitors are shown falcons bred in Russian nurseries, as well as an innovative Russian device for tracking wild falcons.

At the ‘Falcon House,’ visitors can learn about the rarest types of falcons, the reasons for their population decline, support measures, representatives of the Russian Red Book, and information about protected areas in the Far East. The Far East Forum events are held at the Far Eastern Federal University campus. The main theme of this year’s forum is ‘The Far East – Cooperation for Peace and Prosperity.’ Representatives from over 70 countries and regions have confirmed their participation in the forum, with wide participation from delegations from Vietnam, India, China, Laos, Malaysia, and Thailand.
