Paris Saint-Germain’s forward, Ousmane Dembele, is expected to miss about six weeks due to a hamstring injury, while winger Desire Doue is sidelined for approximately four weeks with a calf injury, as announced by the European champions.

The injuries occurred during France’s 2-0 win over Ukraine in the World Cup qualifiers held in Poland on Friday. Doue was substituted by Dembele at halftime, but the 28-year-old had to leave the field limping in the 81st minute.

Dembele, a top contender for this year’s Ballon d’Or, played a crucial role in PSG’s treble success last season, which included their first-ever Champions League, Ligue 1, French Cup, and French Super Cup victories.

He scored 35 goals and provided 16 assists across 53 matches in all competitions for PSG last season.

“Ousmane Dembele has sustained a significant injury to his right hamstring. He is expected to be out for around six weeks,” PSG stated on Saturday.

“Desire Doue, also injured during the match, has a right calf strain and will be unavailable for about four weeks,” they added.

PSG’s next match will see them host Lens in Ligue 1 on September 14, followed by their Champions League title defense opener against Atalanta three days later.

Their busy September schedule includes Ligue 1 fixtures against Olympique de Marseille and Auxerre, culminating in a much-anticipated Champions League showdown with Barcelona, Dembele’s former team, on October 1.

Meanwhile, France will host Iceland in Group D of their World Cup qualifiers on Tuesday.
