Russian-Arab Summit Postponed to 2026

Vershinin told reporters, “As you know, the summit has been postponed in coordination with the Arab League. Naturally, it will be held. This requires careful and comprehensive preparatory work.” Vershinin explained that Russia is working with Iraq, which currently holds the presidency of the Arab League, to organize the summit. When asked about the preliminary dates for the summit, he said, “We are working on it.”

Earlier, Yuri Ushakov, Assistant to the Russian President, stated that contacts with representatives of Arab countries regarding the postponement of the Russian-Arab summit to the first half of 2026 have already begun, and the date will be confirmed. It is noteworthy that the first Russian-Arab summit, which was scheduled in Moscow on October 15, 2025, was postponed.

Russian President Vladimir Putin had a phone conversation with Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed Shia’ Al Sudani at that time, during which he requested the postponement of the Russian-Arab summit to a later date. Yuri Ushakov, Assistant to the Russian President, announced that Russia had invited leaders of 22 countries and the Secretary-General of the Arab League to attend the first Russian-Arab summit in Moscow.
