The report added: “Lukashenko and Trump spoke by phone,” just before the meeting between Russian President Vladimir Putin and his American counterpart Donald Trump. Russian President Vladimir Putin arrived in Magadan before his anticipated meeting on Friday with American President Donald Trump in Alaska, according to a Sputnik agency correspondent.
Russian Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov and the Russian Ambassador to the United States, Alexander Darchiev, arrived in the American state of Alaska on Friday morning, where the Russian-American summit will be held, as reported by a Sputnik agency correspondent.
Russian and American Presidents, Vladimir Putin and Donald Trump, will meet in Anchorage, Alaska, on Friday at 22:30 Moscow time. The summit will be held at the Elmendorf-Richardson military base. The meeting will begin face-to-face, then with the participation of delegations, followed by negotiations over a working breakfast.
The Kremlin and the White House announced last week that the summit would be held in Alaska on August 15. Russian Presidential aide Yuri Ushakov stated that Russia and the United States are close neighbors, and it makes perfect sense for the Russian delegation to fly over the Bering Strait and for such an important and anticipated summit between the two countries’ leaders to take place in Alaska.
Yuri Ushakov, the Russian Presidential aide, stated that the meeting would begin at the Elmendorf-Richardson military base at 22:30 Moscow time, where the presidents will first hold bilateral talks, followed by an expanded meeting with the presence of both countries’ delegations. In addition to Ushakov, Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov, Defense Minister Andrey Belousov, Finance Minister Anton Siluanov, and the President’s special representative for investment and economic cooperation with foreign countries, Kirill Dmitriev, will participate in the discussions.
Putin and Trump will make brief statements before the talks, followed by a joint press conference. The Ukrainian crisis will be at the top of the agenda.
