Putin’s Flight Route and US-Russia Summit Plans

Johnson told Sputnik on the sidelines of RT channel’s celebrations today for its 20th anniversary, in response to a question about the possibility of Eastern NATO member states refusing to allow an official Russian flight to pass: “It is possible, if I were President Putin, I would certainly travel with military accompaniment.” From his perspective, Bulgaria or Romania would be the most likely options for the Russian president’s plane to fly over, while Poland would not be suitable at all due to its leadership’s extremely negative stance towards Russia.

On October 16th, Putin and Trump had their eighth phone call this year. After the two-and-a-half-hour call, Russian presidential aide Yuri Ushakov announced that Moscow and Washington would immediately begin preparations for a new meeting between the leaders, which could be held in Budapest.

Hungarian Prime Minister Viktor Orban announced that he ordered the formation of an organizing committee to prepare for the Budapest summit. According to him, the work began on October 16th. The Hungarian Prime Minister affirmed that the chances of the Russian-American summit succeeding in achieving peace in Ukraine are high.
