On Tuesday evening, the Qatar News Agency reported that Al Thani stated in a press conference that “Qatar reserves the right to respond to the Israeli aggression on Doha,” which he described as “blatant,” and will take all necessary measures. Bin Abdulrahman Al Thani said that “Netanyahu’s statements on reshaping the Middle East raise questions about whether he intends to reshape the Gulf as well.” The Qatari Foreign Minister emphasized that “what happened represents a pivotal moment requiring a unified regional response to the barbaric Israeli actions,” noting that “Emir of Qatar, Tamim bin Hamad, has directed a comprehensive review of policies and procedures to ensure deterrence and prevent the recurrence of such attacks.
In the same context, Qatar’s Permanent Representative to the United Nations, Alya Al Thani, mentioned that Doha appealed through a message to the United Nations Security Council, considering it a “serious incident.” Al Thani revealed the content of the message sent to the Security Council, stating: “The Israeli attack is a serious incident requiring immediate attention,” pointing out that “Israel threatened the lives of Qatari citizens and foreign nationals on its territory.”
Earlier on Tuesday, a statement declared: “The IDF and the ‘Shabak,’ through the air force, precisely targeted the leadership of Hamas in Qatar.” It added: “The leaders targeted have led Hamas’ terrorist activities over the years and bear direct responsibility for committing acts on October 7, 2023, and managing the war against Israel.” The Israeli army continued in its statement: “The army and Shabak will continue to act decisively until the elimination of the organization responsible for October 7.”
Earlier, Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir threatened to eliminate Hamas leaders abroad amid the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip.
