The Qatar News Agency reported today, Thursday, that it learned from an official Qatari source that the summit will discuss the repercussions of the attack on Qatar the day before yesterday, Tuesday. Arab and Islamic countries announced their full solidarity with Qatar following the Israeli attack that targeted officials from the Palestinian Hamas movement in Doha.
Qatar affirmed its right to respond to the aggression, which resulted in the death of a Qatari security officer. Meanwhile, Hamas announced in a statement that its negotiating delegation, led by its leader in Gaza, Khalil al-Hayya, survived the assassination attempt, while his office director, Jihad Labad, his son Hammam al-Hayya, and three other companions were killed.
It is noteworthy that the Israeli attack targeting Qatar comes at a time when Doha continues its mediation efforts with Egypt and the United States to reach a truce and ceasefire in Gaza between Israel and the Palestinian Hamas movement. Israel repeatedly carries out attacks against sites in several countries in the region such as Lebanon, Syria, and Yemen, in addition to its 12-day war with Iran.
