Queen Camilla of Britain will not attend the funeral service for the Duchess of Kent on Tuesday due to her recovery from acute sinusitis, as announced by Buckingham Palace.
The queen, married to King Charles, aims to be well enough to participate in all scheduled events for the state visit of U.S. President Donald Trump, starting Wednesday at Windsor Castle, according to a royal source.
Camilla, 78, has traveled from Scotland and is currently resting at Windsor Castle, the location of the state visit.
She was initially set to join the king and other family members at the funeral service at Westminster Cathedral in London for the duchess, who passed away on September 4.
“Her thoughts and prayers are with the Duke of Kent and the entire family,” stated a Palace spokesperson.
During Trump’s visit with his wife Melania, Camilla is expected to have a significant role, including participating in a carriage procession and attending a grand state banquet.
On Thursday, she plans to guide Melania through the castle’s Royal Library and the renowned Queen Mary’s Dolls’ House, the largest in the world, which celebrated its centennial last year.
Previously, Camilla had to withdraw from several engagements due to a chest infection, while Charles, 76, continues to receive cancer treatment, requiring careful management of his duties.
