The raid resulted in the martyrdom of five members accompanying the delegation, including the son of the leader Khalil al-Hayya, the head of the political bureau of the movement, in addition to the martyrdom of a member of the Qatari security. In an official statement, they mourned the martyrs: Jihad Lubad (Abu Bilal), director of Dr. Khalil al-Hayya’s office; Hammam al-Hayya (Abu Yahya), son of Dr. Khalil al-Hayya; Abdullah Abdul Wahid (Abu Khalil); Moamen Hassouna (Abu Omar); and Ahmed al-Mamlouk (Abu Malik), along with Corporal Badr Saad Mohammed Al-Humaidi of the Qatari Internal Security Forces (Lekhwia). The movement confirmed that the timing of the raid, coinciding with the delegation’s discussion of a new American proposal, reveals the intention of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin and his government to disrupt any potential agreement. Hamas held the American administration jointly responsible with Israel for this aggression, accusing it of continuous support for occupation crimes against the Palestinian people. The movement called on the international community to condemn this blatant violation and work to stop Israeli attacks that threaten the security and stability of the region.
It added: “The leaders targeted have led Hamas’ terrorist activities for years and bear direct responsibility for committing the acts of October 7, 2023, and managing the war against Israel.” The statement continued, “The army and the Shin Bet will continue to work decisively until the elimination of the Hamas organization responsible for October 7.” Earlier, Israeli Chief of Staff Eyal Zamir threatened to eliminate Hamas leaders abroad amid the ongoing war in the Gaza Strip.
