Spinner Ravichandran Ashwin concluded his Indian Premier League (IPL) journey on Wednesday and suggested he might participate in other franchise cricket leagues.

“Every ending heralds a new beginning. My IPL chapter closes today, but my adventure in global cricket leagues starts now,” the 38-year-old shared on X.

“I’m excited to embrace and maximize the opportunities ahead,” he remarked.

Ashwin’s IPL career commenced and concluded with Chennai Super Kings, and included stints with Rising Pune Supergiant, Delhi Capitals, Rajasthan Royals, and Kings XI Punjab.

CSK acquired him at the 2025 mega auction for Rs 97.5 million. In IPL 2025, he played nine matches, claiming seven wickets with a 9.13 economy rate.

This year marked his most expensive season, with an economy rate of 9.12, surpassing 8.49 for the first time.

He ranks as IPL’s fifth-highest wicket-taker, securing 187 wickets in 221 games with a 7.2 economy rate.

The off-spinner, India’s second-highest Test wicket-taker, retired from international cricket in December 2024.

Ashwin was pivotal in India’s victories in the 2011 ICC Cricket World Cup and the 2013 ICC Champions Trophy.
